Why do some ingredients look so different?

Some of the ingredients shown on our site are presented in their processed form, following traditional Chinese herbal preparation methods known as paozhi. Paozhi includes a range of techniques — such as cleaning/purifying, stir-frying or dry-frying, roasting, and steaming — chosen according to the type of material.

These methods are traditionally used to improve shelf stability, temper harsh or undesirable characteristics, and support safer, more consistent use. In classical practice, processing may also refine how an ingredient behaves within a formula—by moderating its intensity, shifting its character, or making it better suited to different preparations and pairings.

As a result, processed ingredients can vary in color, texture, aroma, and surface finish compared to what you may be used to seeing in raw or unprocessed materials.

How should I remove the botanicals after soaking?

Gently lift out the botanicals using the included mesh filter before draining.

Are there any allergens?

Our foot soaks are made with carefully selected traditional Chinese herbs and do not contain common allergens such as nuts, dairy, or gluten. If you have known sensitivities, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list before use.

How often can I use it?

For most people, we recommend using the foot soak 2–3 times per week. Each session should last about 20–30 minutes, allowing your feet to enjoy a gentle, warming ritual. Adjust the frequency to fit your schedule and comfort—some may prefer more frequent use during colder seasons or after long periods of standing or walking.
